Please tell us about your work.

In the Cloud SI department, I develop internal-use applications and assist with IT consulting tasks.

Can you tell us more about your specific responsibilities?

Recently, I developed a web-based scheduling tool for our company, following a request from the General affairs and Accounting Office.

Currently, we're rebuilding a legacy system previously used by a steel manufacturer. The Cloud SI Department is acting as a consultant, bridging the gap between the client and the development vendor. My role involves tasks such as coordinating and refining system specifications.

Please tell us about your background.

After graduating from a vocational school specializing in information technology in my hometown of Hyogo, I worked as a software engineer for about three years.

When I first joined my previous company, I wasn't very confident in my programming skills, but by the time I left, that hesitation had disappeared. Looking to take on a new challenge beyond development work, I began searching for a new role.

During my job search right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote interviews had become the norm. This shift allowed me to consider opportunities beyond the Kansai region, including companies in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. That's when I came across THT and became interested in joining.

Please tell us how you come to join THT.

Actually, I had received another job offer from a company in Tokyo, but I ended up turning it down because some of the conditions differed from what was originally presented.

In contrast, THT's offer met all my expectations. During my first interview, which was conducted by the company CEO himself, he seemed to see potential in me despite my somewhat nervous and hesitant responses. Right then and there, he called in the manager of the prospective department to confirm a few details, and I was offered the position on the spot. It left a very positive impression and made me feel confident about joining the company.

Were you able to achieve the kind of work you were hoping to do at THT?

In my first year, I was assigned to the New Business Development Office, and in my second year, I moved to the Cloud SI Department.

This is my first time to working with cloud services such as AWS, so I am currently studying for certifications while handling my daily tasks. I had never been involved in infrastructure before, so from the perspective of taking on new challenges, I feel that I'm achieving the kind of work I had hoped to do.

At the same time, I also get to do development work at THT. Since I have previous experience in this area, I can approach it with confidence, and there's a certain peace of mind that comes with it. Recently, when I helped organize data materials at my manager's request, he told me, "I'm really glad you're here," which made me genuinely happy. There's also a unique satisfaction in seeing something you've built through code come to life. I believe this experience will also be valuable in the consulting field, so I hope to continue deepening my skills in development as well.

How is THT as a learning environment?

This might be a bit embarrassed to admit, but I've never been good at studying, and sitting at a desk for long periods has actually made me feel unwell since I was a kid.

To manage that, I've developed two strategies that help me stay on track for certifications: setting clear time limits for study sessions, and giving myself permission to stop as soon as I feel like I've hit my limit.

At THT, whenever I'm stuck, there's always someone around willing to help, and my supervisors take the time to explain things properly when I ask questions.

The fact that it's such an easy environment to ask questions in is incredibly reassuring, it really supports my growth and learning.

Please tell us about your career goals.

Moving forward, I aim to take on responsibilities in the IT consulting fields, specifically in areas like system proposals and requirements definition. To prepare for this, I am reaffirming the importance of continuing to be involved in development work, as it provides essential hands-on experience.

Since THT is still a relatively young company, there is also a need to build foundational materials like templates and manuals from scratch. Improving efficiency through better documentation is another challenge I recognize and want to contribute to solving.

THT offers many opportunities to take on unexpected tasks and explore new challenges.

If you're someone who embraces change and is eager to learn and grow, you'll find this to be a great environment.
